Child Protection in Tourism
Child Wise Tourism Training
The Child Wise Tourism training program builds the skills of tourism staff so they are capable of identifying and reporting situations where children may be at risk of sexual exploitation.
Child Wise has developed a specialised training curriculum specifically targeting people who have direct contact with tourists; hotel staff, tour guides, travel agents, taxi drivers, restaurant staff, photo shop staff, karaoke staff, tourism police and other tourism sector representatives. The program provides information on children’s rights and human rights, child protection in international development, local and international child protection legislation and how everyone in the tourism industry can help protect children.
Child Wise can assist with developing polices, guidelines and codes of conduct for the tourism industry.
Hotels and tourism operators interested in receiving training can contact us for further information.

Child Protection Training for Hotels
When families travel it is important that the activities they select for their children in holiday resorts are child safe. Child Wise provides training for Hotels with Kid’s Clubs & babysitting services to assist them to develop and implement standards for their child care services and policies.
Based on the Choose With Care model, the training provides an understanding of child abuse and how to manage and reduce risk including the development of policies and procedures, screening and supervision of staff working with children and child protection strategies to be used directly with children.
Child Wise has delivered training in Fiji and Bali. Participating hotels are listed on the Australian Government’s Smarttraveller website.
